Overview
Designing core OS experiences for Google's next-generation Android laptops.
This summer, I joined Google's Android Laptops & Tablets team as a UX Design Intern in San Francisco, working on the foundational experiences that shape how people interact with their laptops. As someone who's used a Mac for over a decade, it was exciting to look at something as familiar as a laptop through a completely different lens. I quickly realized that even the smallest interactions, like navigating folders or installing an operating system, involve more design decisions than I had ever imagined.
Over 14 weeks, I collaborated with designers, engineers, PMs, and researchers on two main projects:

01
Rethinking file management for large screens
We've all grown familiar with how files and folders work on our computers. But as Android moves to laptops, do those familiar patterns still make sense? How might we make file management more intuitive and efficient for larger screens, while introducing new ways of interacting with our files?

02
Simplifying the ChromeOS Flex installation experience
Installing an operating system isn't something most people do every day. How might we turn a complex, technical process into an experience that feels simple, trustworthy, and approachable, even for someone doing it for the first time?

What made this summer especially meaningful was learning to think beyond individual screens. Designing at the OS level pushed me to consider how every interaction fits into a much larger system, balancing user needs, technical constraints, and long-term product vision.
